About me
C.J. has been involved in the sport of swimming for more than 40 years as a swimmer and a coach. C.J. is an American Swimming Coaches Association Life member and a USA and USMS Certified Level 3 Coach, USA Para Swimming Certified Level 1 Coach, certified USA Triathlon Coach, and a Swimming Official, both for the YMCA and USA Swimming.
C.J. is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University, where he possesses a Masters in Coaching Education and Athlete Development. In his free time, C.J. enjoys hiking, is an avid Frisbee golfer, and escapes a few times a year to his cottage in Lakeside, Ohio.
C.J. swam collegiality for the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of two conference championship teams (1992 & 1993). C.J. has earned USMS All-American honors, has won 22 YMCA Masters National Titles, 6 National Senior Games Titles, and placed in the USMS Top Ten 46 times during his career. C.J. has served on the United States Masters Swimming Board of Directors as Corporate Secretary for four years (2009 -2013), as an At-Large Director for the Board for one year (2013-2014), and Great Lakes Zone Director for USMS (2015-2019), and current member of the Investment Committee. C.J. has earned a Presidential Citation for his work as USMS Corporate Secretary, a Dot Donnelly Service Award (2014), the Kerry O'Brien Coaches Award (2018), and the prestigious Ted Haartz U.S. Masters Swimming Staff Appreciation Award (2019).
